Crysis 2
With the imminent release of Crysis 3, we thought we should take a journey back in time into the world of Crysis 2 at ThrityIR! Crysis, when it was first released by Crytek, set the standard for gaming graphics, period. It brought PCs of the day to its knees and still gives many high end systems a run for their money. Crysis 2 followed in the same vein, although some would argue otherwise, and brought… some incredible graphics with mediocre gameplay. Thanks to the nature of the PC, the modding community was all over Crysis 2. One of the greatest mods for the game is by a lone wolf named Maldo; his mod is called MaldoHD and now, version 4.0 is released!
We at ThirtyIR decided to give the mod a whirl on the Uber Rig while playing Crysis 2 at max settings; DX11, Ultra settings, and HD textures. The experience was surreal and really sets the bar high for FPS games. BF3 is a great game that has incredible visuals. Yet, there is something about the Crysis series that seems to outperform every other game, not just FPS games, in the graphics department. Such dedication to pushing the technology envelope, Crytek has a loyal base of fans eagerly awaiting the next installment in the alien-blasting world of Crysis!

The game with Maldo HD v4.0 played at great framerates with everything maxed out. The videos speak for themselves:
